More talk today about Choas getting the axe, but now it looks like the 7th Edition starter may be disappearing as well? Whats going on at GW now?
Remember just a few weeks ago about when hobbyists were bemoaning the fact that many of the current Chaos Space Marine items were “disappearing” from Games Workshop’s website?
Well some of them came back, but some are still out of stock still.

Today rumormonger Mikhael is saying that you may not see some key Chaos and 40k kits in the near future:

After a longer Phone Talk with the Manager from a near GW Store (we are good Freinds) I got the Information that he should send back the following Articles to the HQ:
-Codex Chaos Space Marines
-Crimson Slaughter – A Dark Vengeance Expansion Set
-Dark Angels: A Dark Vengeance Expansion SetAlso he got the Information that he can no longer order the following Sets from the HQ:
-Dark Vengeance Starter Set
-Chaos Space Marines (10 man Squad)
-Chaos Space Marines Attack Sqaud (5 man Squad)
-Chaos Space Marine Biker (Single Model)
-Possessed
Wow that’s a big chunk of the Chaos core and 40k intro line. Plus we heard just today, about what NEW models we may see soon for Chaos:

I don’t think Dark Angels are getting any new models for a while…..
Rubics tail end of year,C.S.M revamp next. As others and I have said before.
There’s not really any room this year. You have two lots of Heresy stuff, the first of which I think is soon. Although perhaps abit later than I was originally expecting. I heard the next 2 weeks of May are; ST Expansion and then the RoB board. So I don’t think there coming this month, April-May just referred to the rules. I thought they’d drop with the rules but obviously not. Unless they come right at the start of the June, but I don’t think that would work… On top of that; Fenris pt 2, AoS 2nd edition/3 ways to play/whatever you want to call it, Slyvaneth, Metal Duardin, A mountain of Tzeentch releases. As a GUESS maybe they’ll get a repack for Chaos marines.
That’s not even counting in for new codex launches for Genestealer Cults and Deathwatch (Not saying there this year, I have no idea atm.) Shadowkin, which will later tie into Slaanesh stuff. On top of that, more Greenskins, a Summer Campaign. I don’t even think all that is going to fit in this year. Nevermind a CSM release, maybe a quick slapdash codex at most.

– 2nd Disclaimer- I haven’t actually heard the Heresy stuff isn’t coming this month either. I just know the Battle Board is coming and I can’t see them releasing that and Heresy in the same week.
Anyway, if you haven’t all decided to flog me for getting my Heresy timing mixed up. AoS 2nd ed (It’s not called 2nd ed, just my name for it) should drop mid-late June, Slyvaneth straight after leading into July, then the Summer campaign.
What It May Mean:
We’ve already heard heaps and mounds about GW going hog wild and focusing on Sigmar this summer. Between the new AoS summer campaign and the release of Aelfs etc. Well the window of new 40k releases before summer may be rapidly closing..
It also seems to line up with Sad Panda’s remarks earlier in the week to, about 23+ weeks of AoS this year:

There is definitely a shift, but a lot of it is simply the release schedule.
WFB (without End Times) in its final years had maybe ~20% of the release weeks while 40K was in overdrive with codex books, etc..
For 2016 (GW‘s financial year), the “strategic directive” I know about for certain was to have >50% of release weeks be AoS.
I don’t have sales numbers, but I would be surprised if that wouldn’t affect the internal 40K-vs-AoS/Fantasy a bit.
Overall it looks like there will plenty of new releases this year, just a little light on the 40k side of things perhaps. However if the grim dark is your thing, maybe its time to look into the Age of Darkness, and 30k?
They’ve got TONS coming out this year for that, oh yeah and they’ve got CHAOS too, well sorta. But I’ll take Legion rules over the current ‘dex any day of the week!
